Abandoned Home Purchased
Forgotten for 10 years, Molly and Curtis purchased the house with little more than excitement and determination to turn the neighborhood eyesore into something beautiful.
Our builders have a varied background, each bringing something unique and special to the build. You can frequently find us out on the porch, yard, or in the shop building, gluing, welding, or engineering something every evening in October. You are welcomed and encouraged to stop in and say hello if you see us outside working. We enjoy seeing how much the community appreciates our work and dedication.
Denny is our craftsman, bringing his love of woodworking and building to the team. He designed and built the stands for our awesome smoke cannons, allowing them to articulate and aim. Denny is always up for helping bring Molly’s wild creations to life – no matter how wild they are.
Curtis is our all-around amazing engineer. Whatever Molly thinks up, Curtis is able to create and put into action. Curtis single-handedly created our smoke ring cannons and our drinking skeletons. Curtis is also a master electrician and engineered the fog machines and electric candles.
Molly is our creative designer. Molly enjoys coming up with new scenes each year and finding ways to bring the pirates to life. She loves creating new costumes for the pirates and even Curtis and Denny too!
Erin is our scene design expert. Between her mechanical skills and her keen design eye, she helps design and create all aspects of our build. Erin is a skilled craftsman, and knows how to solder, build electrical circuits, and wields a mean hot glue gun.

Curtis Stoecklin
In spring 2018, Molly and Curtis Stoecklin bought the dilapidated home on the corner of Spanish Bay that had sat vacant for the previous 10 years. Armed with little more than excitement, vision, and power tools, they were determined to rebuild the long-standing eyesore into a neighborhood beauty. That Halloween, Molly and Curtis decorated the wraparound porch for the first time. Little did they know that it would be the start of something amazing to come.
Molly always says the porch cries out to be decorated. Since 2018, Molly and Curtis have enjoyed decorating the porch for the holidays, and the Halloween decorating has taken on a life of it’s self. Each year our Halloween decorating has grown by leaps and bounds. 2023 saw the inaugural launch of the Grand Ship Ferdinand, and we are thrilled to continue to expand each year.
We hope the Grand Ship Ferdinand and the Pirates of Spanish Bay brings joy and smiles to the Happy Valley community. Come by each year to see what is new!

First Display Created
Molly always says that the porch screams to be decorated. In 2019 we purchased our first few skeletons and staged them around the porch. Little did we know that our fun displays would grow into what they are now!
COVID Safe Redesign
With COVID in full swing, we wanted to find a way to bring joy to kids and keep all of us safe. This led to Curtis building our 10-foot candy chute, powered by one of our faithful pirates. It was such a hit, it's become a permanent fixture.
Interactive Exhibit
This year we launched the Grand Ship Ferdinand. And what do pirate ships have? CANNONS! Molly challenged Curtis to create live action cannons, and boy did he deliver! Together, Curtis and Denny created live action smoke ring cannons that can be aimed and fired, creating a true interactive feeling. They were an absolute hit and we can't wait for this coming year.
Denny, Molly, Curtis, and Erin lovingly and painstakingly create all of the props and elements used in the display. From staining purchased skeletons to “age” them, to creating life-sized gravestones and real drinking skeleton pirates, nothing is too difficult for the build team. Here’s a behind the scenes look at some of the props and elements we create.
